Rhino Metals, Inc. is a veteran owned manufacturing company that was founded in 1995, originally as a small town metal fabrication job shop. The founder, Don Suggs, was a fighter pilot that also loved metalworking and decided to apply the discipline and commitment to excellence gained in flying fighters to the business world. The company has grown to be the industry leader in the gun safe industry, with innovations such as the popular Ironworks design, the convenient swing out rack gun storage system, and now the ultra-tough polyurea (truck bed liner tough) safe finish. The company also manufactures high quality tool chests and industrial vintage-styled furniture.
The company is named after an aircraft Mr. Suggs flew operationally, the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom. Loved by those who flew her, the F-4 was affectionately known as the “rhino” due to its long nose and toughness.
Additionally, Rhino Metals also manufactures a full selection of quality trailers through its subsidiary, Criterion Trailers, LLC.. The headquarters and U.S. manufacturing plant for safes, furniture and tool chests is located in Caldwell, Idaho (approximately 35 miles outside of Boise). The trailer factory is separately located just outside Caldwell, Idaho.
