A vault door is a different purchase from a safe. You are not buying a box you can move later — you are finishing a room, and the door has to match an opening that already exists. That is why the Beast is specified in four dimensions before you ever get to color: hinge side, swing direction, hardware and lock.

Get those four right and you have a walk-in room that protects everything at once — long guns, ammunition, documents, whatever else you would rather not inventory for an insurance adjuster. Get the hinge side wrong and you have a very heavy door that opens into a wall.

Finish bands

Three price bands, set by finish:

Fourteen finishes across those bands, from Black Textured and Gray Marble through Burgundy Marble, Forest Mist Gloss, Black Cherry Gloss and White Marble. Hinge side, swing direction and hardware do not change the price — only the finish band does. So specify the door your opening needs first, then pick the finish you want.

A note on swing: out-swing doors clear the room and are what most people want for a converted closet or a small vault room, because nothing inside blocks the door. In-swing is the right answer when the door would otherwise open into a hallway or against something structural. If you are not certain, measure the room and call us.

Rough opening — get this right before you frame

The rough opening is different for each swing. Decide in-swing or out-swing before the opening is framed — this is the single most expensive thing to get wrong on a vault door.

Fire protection: up to 2.5 hours of Cool Box™ fire protection.

Beast or Blockade?

These two doors are not competing on the same thing, and we would rather you knew that before you spent the money.

• Beast — fire + security — 2.5 hours Cool Box™, 18 half-inch locking bars. Around $8,899.
• Blockade — security only — no fire protection, 6 quarter-inch bars, roughly half the price. $4,139.

The Beast is the one to buy if the room holds anything that fire would destroy — documents, photographs, ammunition, a collection you could not replace. You are paying roughly double for two and a half hours of Cool Box™ protection the Blockade simply does not have.

About these measurements

• Published measurements are nominal — allow about an eighth of an inch either way.
• Depth figures are the safe body alone. Budget roughly another 1/8" for the outlet kit, 1.5" for a plug, and 1.75" for the handle before you measure an alcove.
• Long-gun counts assume standard rifles. Scopes, thumbholes and wide stocks reduce the real number — come see one loaded if capacity is the deciding factor.
• Liberty revises specifications without notice; we confirm every figure at order.

Book a fitting

Do not order a vault door off a web page. Send us the rough opening measurements — width, height, and which way the wall runs — and we will confirm the hinge and swing before anything is ordered. Book an appointment at our Pflugerville showroom just north of Austin — or our San Antonio showroom, open Tuesdays only, also by appointment — and bring photographs of the opening. We do this every week and it takes about ten minutes to get right. We deliver to all four major Texas metros — Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio — and everywhere in between.
